NEW DELHI: BAIL OR JAIL These days highest court of the land, the Supreme Court is making lot of noise about ‘bail is the rule and jail is an exception’. According to the legal luminaries of the apex court, this principle is applicable to offences under even special statuses like the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), so also under PMLA or Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Judges of the Apex Court passed the order under UAPA while granting bail on 13/08/2024 to a man accused of harboring suspected terrorists. The accused in the case is one Jalaluddin Khan, a retired police constable. Then comes the caste of Ms. K. Kavitha, a Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader and daughter of BRS strong man K.
