No more plastic menace- bottles that can be eaten
London: Finished drinking your bottle of water? Now eat it! A design student in UK has developed an edible ‘bottle’ of water that could rid the world of excess plastic waste. Rodrigo Garcia Gonzalez along with fellow Imperial College London students has been working on the Ooho water bottle for the past few years. The bottle is made out of edible materials, looks like a jellyfish, and has the potential to put an end to the bottled water industry, ‘Smithsonian.com’ reported, according to PTI.
Mountain on rent
London: An extremely rich mother in China rented out an entire mountain just so that her 9-year-old daughter can learn about nature, it has been revealed. According to Daily Express, when 33-year-old Gan Lin learned that her daughter, Yin Gan, who’s in fourth class of a primary school, knows very less about plants, vegetables, or anything related to nature, she paid a local council to lease a mountain, including a farm with 1.3 hectares of land. The former teacher said that it’s best to teach city kids about nature in a natural setting rather than the classroom and its safe, clean and beautiful, reports ANI. Since she could afford to rent a mountain, she did, added Lin.
TEEN FLIES 3,700 KM OUTSIDE AIRCRAFT AT 11000 MTRS
Honolulu: A 16-year-old boy stowed away in the wheel well of a flight from California to Hawaii, surviving the trip halfway across the Pacific Ocean unharmed despite frigid temperatures at 38,000 feet (11,500 meters) and lack of oxygen, FBI and airline officials said, reports AP.
FBI spokesman Tom Simon in Honolulu told The Associated Press that the boy was questioned after being discovered on the tarmac at the Maui airport with no identification. “Kid’s lucky to be alive,” Simon said adding further that the security footage from the San Jose airport verified that the boy hopped a fence to get to Hawaiian Airlines Flight 45 on Sunday morning.
The teen had run away from his family after an argument, Simon said. When the flight landed in Maui, the boy hopped down from the wheel well and started wandering around the airport grounds, he said. “He was unconscious for the lion’s share of the flight,” Simon said. The flight lasted about 5 and half hours.
Hawaiian Airlines spokeswoman Alison Croyle said airline personnel noticed the boy on the ramp after the flight arrived and immediately notified airport security. “Our primary concern now is for the well being of the boy, who is exceptionally lucky to have survived,” Croyle said. Simon said the boy was medically screened and found to be unharmed. “Doesn’t even remember the flight,” Simon said. “It’s amazing he survived that.”
A call and email message to a Mineta San Jose International Airport spokeswoman were not immediately returned. Officials at Kahului Airport referred questions to the State Department of Transportation, which did not return a phone call seeking comment. The boy will not be charged and was referred to child protective services, Simon said. In August, a 14-year-old boy in Nigeria survived a 35-minute trip in the wheel well of a flight after stowing away.

Japanese Teaching Myna
London: Enrolled in a Japanese learning course and yet to understand the nitty-gritty involved with the language? Learn it from a bird, instead! A common hill myna in Japan not only chats in impeccable Japanese with people over phone, she can also give you some lessons, according to IANS. Owned by Satoko Ohno, the bird called Abe Chan has a surprisingly competent grasp of words and phrase in Japanese, media reports said. Sporting jet black feathers in contrast to the orange beak and yellow spots on the head, she answers phone and converses freely in Japanese. She can mimic a wide variety of noises, including human voice with accuracy. A video of this Southeast Asian bird speaking in Japanese is also available on YouTube.
